What is a healing shawl
?A healing shawl is a garment of love and consolation for a person who is in need
.It is prayerfully knitted, crocheted or sewn for an unknown recipient by a member of the HSM ministry. The shawl is a selfless, spiritual gift of love and prayer from the maker of the shawl, to the person requesting the shawl, and finally to the recipient. When the shawl is completed, it is blessed before being presented to the recipient.
Do you know someone who could benefit from the comfort and support from a healing shawl
? It could be a family member, a friend, or even yourself… someone who suffers from a physical, emotional or spiritual ailment, or even loss of faith and trust. The recipient does not have to be a St. Jude’s parishioner. As a parish in Connecticut, our focus is to provide shawls to people in the surrounding area
.
What about privacy
?Our members create these shawls for someone who is in need, and do not know the identity of the recipient or the nature of his or her ailment. A list of recipients is kept by the HSM Coordinator to eliminate any duplication in shawl gifts
.
Do you have anything suitable for men? for children
?Yes. For men we have tailored shawls, called mantles, in subdued colors. For children we have colorful fleece blankets and shawls. There are also blankets available for very young children or infants

.

How do I obtain a shawl?
Call or e-mail an HSM Coordinator. She will prayerfully choose a shawl and give it to the person requesting the shawl.  The shawls are gifts, there is no charge.  If you live outside of Connecticut, we will gladly send you a pocket sized healing square, which is prayerfully made and blessed.

How can I help the Healing Shawl Ministry?
Join us at our meetings held on the first Thursday of each month, 10am in the Social Hall. There are members who do not knit, crochet or sew, but help in other ways, or just want to be a part of the ministry. Yarn is available, free of charge for members to knit or crochet.

You created every part of me,
Knitting me in my mother’s womb.
For such handiwork, I praise you.
Awesome this great wonder!
